What Is A Balanced Diet
Its what your grandparents ate during the war. When they had to grow their own veg, and had only a certain amount of each food.
A balanced diet refers to the amount of
Fats
Good Carbs
Protiens
Vitamins
Minerals
... that you consume.
It is not a balance between good and bad! when discussing nutrition 7 diets with clients, i firstly sit them down and chat to them.
Firstly i get them to tell me what foods are good and what foods are bad. they always get it right. Everyone does
Then i ask them what they are going to eat in order to lose weight / get healthier etc. they always get that right too
then they say "what about treats or a balance"?
What about them? i ask. They look at me shocked. Like i have said something bad. The simple fact is if your trying to lose weight then you don't get to have treats. It isn't your right to have a treat. If i eat unhealthy for a month i gain fat. The next month i give up all treats, junk foods and unhealthy options. If you ate unhealthy for ten years, then you have a lot of treats to miss out on.
A balanced diet refers to getting the correct amount of nutrients. not a balance between good and bad foods.
